WorkMade's UK service is not yet available. Today these terms cover our UK website and waitlist. Sections 3 onward describe the service as it will work when it launches; you will be asked to accept the terms again before you use it.

1. Who we are and who can use WorkMade

WorkMade is provided by WorkMade Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("WorkMade", "we", "us"). You must be at least 18, resident in the United Kingdom, and able to enter a binding contract. If you use WorkMade for a business, you confirm you are entitled to bind it. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details private. Tell us at hello@workmade.co.uk straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

2. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free and creates no obligation on either side. Your place in the queue can move up when people you refer join. Referral rewards, including any early access or items we send, are at our discretion and depend on the referred person confirming their email and being a genuine new signup. We may remove referrals that appear automated or fraudulent. We will only email you about the UK launch, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

3. What the service is

When it launches, WorkMade will let you connect bank accounts through a regulated open banking provider, categorise your transactions automatically, estimate the tax you owe and set money aside for it, prepare and submit Making Tax Digital quarterly updates and your Self Assessment to HMRC when you approve them, invoice clients and take payments, and ask questions of an AI assistant. Some features rely on third parties and depend on their availability and terms. We may add, change or withdraw features, and we will give you reasonable notice of any change that materially affects you.

4. WorkMade is software, not your accountant

WorkMade is a self-service software tool. We are not accountants, tax advisers or agents, and nothing in the service is tax, legal, accounting or financial advice. Using WorkMade does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship. You make every decision about your tax affairs: what income to report, what expenses to claim, and how to classify your business.

You interact with HMRC in your own name. You authorise WorkMade's software to submit to HMRC using your own HMRC sign-in, and every submission is shown to you and sent only when you approve it. WorkMade is not registered with HMRC as a tax agent and does not act as your agent before HMRC. If you want someone to advise you or to deal with HMRC on your behalf, appoint a qualified adviser.

5. Estimates, calculations and submissions

Tax estimates, set-aside amounts and draft submissions are based on the information available to us and on tax rules that change. They are estimates until HMRC has calculated your liability. Where the service shows you a figure from HMRC, it is HMRC's calculation based on the information HMRC has received, and it may change if further information is submitted. You are responsible for reviewing everything before you approve it, for the accuracy and completeness of what is submitted, and for any tax, interest or penalties HMRC assesses. We are not liable to pay or reimburse those amounts, except where they result from our breach of these terms or our negligence.

You own your records. You can view and export them from the service at any time, including after you stop using it, for as long as we are required to keep them.

6. The AI assistant

The assistant is an automated system, not a person. It can make mistakes, misread documents and give answers that do not fit your situation. Review its output before you rely on it. If you use voice, we tell you before recording. You may use the assistant's output for your own business and tax affairs, but not to provide services to others for payment, to generate false information, or to build a competing product.

7. Connecting your bank and moving money

Bank connections and payments are provided by regulated open banking providers. When you instruct a payment, whether to HMRC, into a savings account in your own name, or elsewhere, you authorise the provider to initiate it from your account, and you confirm the details in the provider's own screens. WorkMade is not a bank, does not hold your money, and is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Money set aside for tax stays in an account in your own name at your own bank. We are not responsible for a bank or provider declining, delaying or reversing a payment, but we will help you find out what happened.

8. Subscriptions and payment

Some features will require a paid subscription. Prices shown to you include VAT where it applies. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel, and we will remind you before any renewal where the law requires it. You can cancel at any time in your account settings or by emailing us; cancelling stops future charges and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

If you are a consumer, you have 14 days from the start of a paid subscription to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel, email hello@workmade.co.uk or use the cancellation form in your account settings. By starting to use the service within those 14 days you ask us to begin supplying it straight away, and if you then cancel we refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the period you had access. Beyond the 14 days, fees are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise.

9. Your content and our software

You keep ownership of everything you provide. You give us permission to store and process it to provide, secure and improve the service, as described in our privacy policy. The service itself, including its software, design and trademarks, belongs to WorkMade or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it under these terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

10. Acceptable use

You agree to use the service lawfully and honestly, and not to: provide false information, including to HMRC; interfere with the service or try to access it or others' data without permission; use automated tools to access it except as we allow; copy, resell or reverse-engineer it beyond what the law permits; or use it on behalf of someone else without their authority.

11. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close it if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity, if the law requires it, or if we withdraw the service, giving you as much notice as we reasonably can. After closure we keep the records the law requires us to keep, including records of submissions to HMRC, and you can still export them.

12. Our responsibility to you

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, but not for loss that is not foreseeable, or that results from your own decisions about your tax affairs, from information you gave us that was wrong or incomplete, or from a third party's failure outside our control.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits your legal rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. If you use the service for business purposes, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for loss of profit, business or goodwill, except where the law does not allow that limit.

13. Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem, contact us first at hello@workmade.co.uk and we will try to resolve it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. You are not required to use arbitration. We are not obliged to use, and do not currently use, an alternative dispute resolution provider; if that changes we will say so here.

14. Other terms

These terms, together with our privacy policy and cookie policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term, that does not mean we have waived it. We may transfer our rights to a successor, and we will tell you if we do. No one else has rights under these terms. We may update these terms; for material changes we will give you advance notice and ask you to accept them again before they apply to you.
